About Us

Our practice has been present in the city since the start of the National Health Service. Originally situated in the heart of the city, the practice moved to purpose-built premises in 2006 at the city end of Newtown Road, a short distance from Shrub Hill station. To assist visitors there is a large car park at the rear of the building.

We also have a branch surgery in Kempsey which serves the villages of Kempsey, Severn Stoke, Kerswell Green, Clifton, Littleworth and Stonehall Common.

The practice provides medical services for our patients under a contract with Worcestershire Primary Care Trust. This is called a Personal Medical Services (PMS) contract and under the terms of this contract the practice maintains a patient list.

Practice Facilities

All medical facilities are fully accessible for disabled patients, including the lifts to the first floor.

Access For The Deaf Or Hard Of Hearing Patients

A portable hearing loop is available for use by patients. Please ask for this at the reception desk.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing and would like to make an appointment, you are welcome to fax a request to us, using our fax number 01905 368510. We will then fax back a confirmation of an appointment to you.

Blind Or Partially Sighted Patients

Our Practice Leaflet is available on an audio cassette. If you would like a copy, please ask at the reception desk.

Teaching & Training

GP Registrar Training

As a training practice we may have doctors working in the surgery who are spending a year training to be GPs. These doctors are fully qualified and experienced in hospital medicine.

Medical Students

The practice is an undergraduate teaching practice, taking medical students throughout their time at the University of Birmingham. Occasionally they may sit in during consultations. Your GP will check if you are happy with this and you have the right to decline, if you wish. Patients with certain medical conditions are invited to take part in teaching medical students. See surgery notice boards for more information.

Other Professional Training

On occasions we also have student doctors, nurses and midwives with us. This is an essential part of their training. Patients will always be informed if the doctor or nurse has a student with them. If you prefer not to have a student present during your consultation please make the staff at reception aware.
